How To Make The Most Of Your Time On The Golf Course Driving Range
A golf course driving range is a vitally important part of the facilities at both private and public courses, and it is vital that any new course design should have a large enough range to satisfy demand. Despite the oft heard saying that you drive for show and putt for dough, the drive can have the most profound effect on scoring, especially for a handicap player. By working on golf fitness and the mechanics of the swing, that driving ability can be greatly enhanced.
Golf fitness can be something of a contentious issue. After all, aren't there professional players who smoke, drink and eat unhealthy food? Yes, but are they the ones who are consistently lifting the trophies? At professional level, fitness is a large part of what is separating the winners from the pack. Similarly, for the handicap player, fitness won't ensure that you become a better player, but lack of it will pretty much ensure that you do not.
Many players are looking to the new golf club technology to help them achieve more accuracy and distance. What they are failing to realize is that this new technology is only effective in the hands of someone who can use it effectively. If you don't have the physical strength to hold the club on line as you make the swing, your extra power may only lead to an incorrect striking of the ball, which will cost you distance and accuracy. By all means get the equipment, but make sure you get the fitness to go with it.
As well as introducing some basic strength exercises, and stretching exercises for flexibility, have a professional look over your swing to make sure that the mechanics are right. If you are swinging stiffly, then continue with your exercise program before you get your swing assessed. When you think you are ready, have the assessment carried out, and act on the advice given. Once you are swinging in the way you should be, with the body to be able to do so, then it is a case of grooving that correct swing so that it becomes second nature.
You will have now reached the stage where time on the golf course driving range will pay off handsomely. You will be reinforcing success instead of failure, and can look forward to vastly improved scoring. This is, of course, as long as you can take this new swing out onto the course and play with confidence. If you can do that, the way is clear for you to get a lot more pleasure out of your golf. There are few things more satisfying than seeing the ball land right on the target spot in the fairway, and also seeing the ball consistently fly over trouble you used to land in. This can happen with correct use of the golf course driving range.
